About Us
Hi, I’m Karli Huber, BSN, RN proud owner and founder of Riverside Wellness Medical Spa, serving Ann Arbor and Tecumseh!
With 5 years of nursing experience, my background includes critical care, travel nursing, and MOST IMPORTANT medical aesthetics. I hold bachelor’s degrees in Nursing and Hospitality Management, along with additional education in cosmetology and culinary arts.
I believe exceptional aesthetic care requires more than a nursing degree. That’s why I continuously invest in advanced education, hands-on training, webinars, and certifications in SkinPen microneedling, VI Peel, neurotoxins, Juvederm dermal fillers, and other aesthetic treatments.
Working in collaboration with Dr. Thomas Platt, MD, my approach combines medical knowledge, artistic precision, and evidence-based treatments to help patients feel confident in their own skin.
Outside of Riverside, I continue working part-time in my own wellness journey. Trying to better my health one step at a time. I also enjoy traveling, exploring new restaurants, and spending time with my chocolate Labradors.
For me, aesthetics is where science meets artistry, and education never stops.

Meet Carissa, RN, BSN | Aesthetic Nurse & Certified Nurse Coach
Carissa brings an extensive background in critical care, Neuro ICU, trauma nursing, and nursing leadership to Riverside Wellness Medical Spa. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Eastern Michigan University and also holds degrees in Health Care Administration and Radiologic Technology.
Throughout her career, Carissa has worked across major Michigan health systems as a critical care and travel ICU nurse and in nursing leadership. She holds BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications, along with her Certified Nurse Coach credential, which strengthens her approach to health, wellness, and personalized weight management support.
Carissa is also certified in SkinPen microneedling and VI Peel chemical peels, has completed advanced NeoCutis skincare education, and continues expanding her skills through specialized Botox and neurotoxin injection training.
At Riverside Wellness, Carissa combines her clinical expertise, aesthetic education, and wellness coaching to provide individualized care. Her background in nurse coaching is especially valuable in our medical weight loss program, where she helps patients build sustainable habits, set realistic goals, and feel supported throughout their wellness journey.
Her philosophy is simple: Patient safety first, education always, and confidence built through healthy skin and whole-body wellness.
Dr. Thomas Platt
Aesthetic Physician
Dr. Platt received his medical degree from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, where he also received his specialty training at a Brown University hospital.
Doctor Platt is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, and has been the Chief Medical Officer for three organizations. He is also a member of the International Association of Physicians in Aesthetic Medicine.
He shifted his focus to Aesthetic medicine because he enjoys helping people enhance their lives by transforming their appearance.
With an unparalleled medical background and a passion for aesthetics, Dr. Platt loves helping everyone become the very best versions of themselves.
Beyond medicine, Dr. Platt is a skilled woodworker, avid piano player, and enthusiastic traveler. He enjoys spending quality time with his wife, Wendy, and proudly embraces his role as “grand-paw” to three beloved fur babies—and now as a grandfather to his TWO grandchild.
